Helicopter School

with 2 comments

Man, these guys were so hot!

These hangars that now house this helicopter pilot school were originally built to train Royal Air Force pilots for the Battle of Britain in WWII. This was before the US got involved, and Hollywood producers and actors like Jimmy Stewart actually funded the whole thing, until the US got smart. After it fell out of use, the City of Mesa bought it at auction for $1. Yeah, one whole dollar. Now, Falcon Field houses the most amazing military aircraft museum and has some of the nicest people around. And The Monastery is amazing!
