So, after talking to some of the other people at the Republic, I figure it’s ok to post what I shoot here. It’s not like I am the Huffington Post.

This was my first assignment for the Republic; it’s about the opening and dedication of a running track pretty close to my house in the Balsz School District. The older guy is who they named the track after, he worked in the district for 33 years. Below, he is tearing up in memory of his friend and former superintendent who passed away suddenly last week.

These kids were playing drums at the little assembly, and I am going to try to get in touch and see if I can’t follow them for an in-depth story… They just picked up the drums on the playground. They are from immigrant African families.
