Streetcar Operator

with 2 comments

Norman operated streetcars in Phoenix from 1945-1948, the city’s first incarnation of anything like light rail. There is actually a streetcar museum right by ASA that I never knew was there. It was also Norman’s 88th birthday so he seemed so happy to be reliving all these memories. The one he is sitting in for the first two is a restored one, the last one is the actual car he drove. After they shut down the rail system in ’48, he started driving buses.
