Cubatron (in a robot voice)

with one comment

This is the cubatron– a huge light sculpture that I saw at Coachella a couple of years ago and dragged my roommate to to see if it was as cool as I remember. It was on the waterfront in Scottsdale, which is basically a canal with fancy landscaping, overpriced stores and terrible jazz musicians.  It would have been nice if they had it on some grass to sit and look at, but no. Oh Scottsdale, you’re always what lets me down.  Nevertheless, it was still kind of cool.

Good news: spring internship

with 3 comments

I am honored to say I just accepted an internship at The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the spring of 2009.  It’s a great paper and all of the people I have talked to are wonderful.  I also may be doing this internship as a Chips Quinn Scholar if all goes as planned.

I am so happy and releived to finally have a plan.  Its also very exciting to get out of the desert to a place that most people I ask just say “it’s another world down there”.   Time to return to my southern belle roots… you would never be able to tell my sister and I were born in Georgia, but there must be some kind of accent deep down.

Veterans’ Day Parade

with one comment

Even though I didn’t have to, how could I not?  I love shooting parades, especially the Veterans’ Day parade.

I just finished watching an effective, highly moving POV special on the morality of killing in war and conscientious objection.  It is a must see, especially around Veterans’ Day.
