Spanish Town Parade

with 2 comments

The Spanish Town Parade is the biggest event in Baton Rouge all year – it’s a kitchsy, risqué way to make fun of the pomp and circumstance of other Mardi Gras traditions.  I have been pretty sick most of the week and yesterday, the day of the parade, was the worst.  I got out my softbox and did these portraits of friends, made it through a little bit of the crowd, then couldn’t take it. I had to go home and go to bed.  Next year, though.
In the last one, you can see another example of Louisiana weirdness – it’s legal to park on the freeway? What?
