what I will miss
This list is not done yet. Amelia and I drive out for Baton Rouge Saturday morning and then mosey on through New Mexico and Texas to arrive sometime around Tuesday. My first day on the new job is January 12. I am so excited… but have so much stuff to do.
more of what I will miss to come.
light rail
It seems like all of the good stuff happens after my time. I graduate, and the j-school gets a cool new building. I get ready to move and the light rail opens. C’est la vie.
First-ever wedding
This doesn’t mean I am going to be doing weddings regularly. I only said yes for Kelli because she’s so sweet and she asked me nicely. Her and Mark are very in love and made it very simple to capture some heart-warming moments. I just realized all of the ones I picked to post are vertical, and they are standing facing each other, which is odd because I am usually such a horizontal shooter, and most of the other photos don’t look like these. Hmm. Back to baking and gift-wrapping now!
Tamale festival
In Arizona, Christmas time is tamale time. Here are a couple images from last weekend’s tamale festival in downtown Phoenix. I would have posted more pictures of actual tamales but I ate them all.
Red Mountain Park
Quick post before I go catch up with some old friends tonight. Congratulations to my good friend and roommate Amelia Villaseñor for graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Anthropology today from Arizona State. We’re so proud of you! Those photos coming soon.
Happy Holidays everyone!
Vietnamese
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I haven’t been spending much time at the computer lately. It’s just too nice outside and I am trying to soak up Phoenix before I miss it. This is Pho Bang, one of the Vietnamese places in town we like to go to. There is nothing like diving into a big bowl of steaming pho.
Fire dancing
Aside from getting butternut squash, sweet corn tamales and fresh granola, I got a couple of shots of these ladies dancing at the Farmers’ Market in downtown Phoenix tonight.
My heart and mind goes out to all those who lost their jobs at The Arizona Republic today. I don’t even know what to say.
Light painting
So I don’t usually traverse into the world of light painting, but many things sound like a good idea after a couple glasses of wine with friends. We made dinner here at home last night and played around with a little blue LED.
I know it looks like I am doing no photojournalism work lately- but it’s just all editing. After going over my stories and multimedia projects during the week and working at azcentral.com on weekends, I just don’t feel like sitting behind a computer when I get a couple of free minutes. Hence, cooking dinner and light painting. The good stuff is in process, though.
