Carly Booth Portraits

These are some portraits I did a few weeks ago for a Scottish golf phenom, Carly Booth. She came to the states to compete and finish high school. She is really nice and has a cute accent. The other girl in the photo below is the daughter of her coach, Ashley. They are seemingly normal teenage girls except for the fact that they are practice like crazy and are wildly talented. The cross-lighting with the sun turned out nice.

The smartest, cutest three-year-old around. Her mom’s not bad either. I took this on Sunday.

Eyes are the theme today.

I just liked the way the curves of the pipes and hoses were halted by the one straight hose hanging down, and the light coming down on his one eye.

This construction site is actually working on building a filter to purify the groundwater of a tiny bit of naturally-occurring arsenic. Those Scottsdalians are always thinking someone is trying to poison their water.

This is Gwen. She is a 21-year-old professional puppeteer, after her mother and father before her. Here, she is directing the mice for the scene in Cinderella where the Fairy Godmother uses her magic to get Cinderella to the ball. Such drama in puppetry.

As photographers, we shoot thousands of images a week, and usually less than a handful see the light of publication after the shutter clicks. Sent off to a dusty attic of external hard drives and fuzzy memories, some of these rejects are better than others. This blog is dedicated to the pictures that are the ‘hard reads’, and the ones that just don’t tell the story you’re aiming for. It’s also a place for the stories of the quirky people I am often sent to photograph.

So, cheers, have a beer, and enjoy.
